A makerspace in Salem for creative outlet and collaborative community.
"Heroes are not giant statues framed against a red sky. They are people who say: This is my community, and it is my responsibility to make it better. Interweave all these communities, and you really have an America that is back on its feet, a comfortable nation to live in again. ~ Tom McCall
The purpose of the Salem Makerspace is to be a place in Marion County for creative energy, community, and entrepreneurship. We need a central location for fostering creative work and intentional community by valuing creativity, expression and collaboration.
Creativity and community are not highly valued in today’s consumer focused world. Our lives need purpose and interaction with other people.
Society feels more insular since COVID, and opportunities to engage with others are harder to find. The Salem Makerspace seeks to give people in Salem, young and old, a place to be in community, live out their creativity, and explore the world around them.
